Dr Walid AbuShawish is a consultant gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist who currently holds appointments at Alfred Health and Mercy Health, in addition to his private practice at The Avenue Hospital, Melbourne. He has undertaken subspecialty training in advanced endoscopy at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, interventional hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) endoscopy at The Alfred in Melbourne, and a research hepatology fellowship at Royal Perth Hospital. This breadth of experience has provided him with a strong foundation in both clinical care and research.
Dr Walid AbuShawish has expertise in complex endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and double-balloon enteroscopy. His training and experience enable him to manage a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, from common disorders to rare and technically challenging cases.
